Wednesday, March 5, 2010 WASHINGTON DC PATROL TRIP - There will be a meeting for all fifth grade students and parents who are planning to attend the Washington, DC, trip in June. Sgt. Patterson of the Alachua County Sheriff's Department will be here to address parents and students. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in room 223 upstairs next to Mr. McKenzie's office. YEARBOOKS FOR SALE - There is still one week left to order a school yearbook for 2009-2010. Yearbooks are for sale by pre-order only - there will not be any extras for sale at delivery in May. Yearbooks cost $30, but can be ordered with a $15 deposit. Order forms available for download on our website at www.trsonline.org click "forms." STATE CHAMPIONSHIP T-SHIRT - Commemorate the Lady Lions' first state championship in school history with a limited-edition t-shirt. Orders can be placed through the school office next week. Shirts are $10 each and are available in adult sizes only. CHAMPIONSHIP TO AIR ON SUN SPORTS - Watch the broadcast of the Lady Lions' state title game on Sun Sports (Cox channel 48) next Friday, March 12, at 3:30 p.m. with commentators Mark Wise and Whit Watson. INTERNATIONAL DINNER 2010 - The International Dinner is coming up on Friday, March 26. We are in need of parent volunteers to assist with the planning. If you are able to attend, please join us for our next meeting on Wednesday night, 7:00 p.m., in room 223, or contact Diane Taylor (jdtaylor@cnonline.net) to get involved. NINE WEEKS ENDS SOON - The third nine week grading period ends next Friday, March 12. Report cards will be distributed the following week. Students need to make sure all make up work is completed and turned in soon. AP PARENT NIGHT - There will be a mandatory meeting for students and parents who participate in the school's AP program on Monday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. Attendance at the meeting is required in order for students to be permitted to take any AP exams this spring. OPEN HOUSE MONDAYS - The Rock School will have an informal Open House every Monday, 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. this spring for prospective families. Any families who are interested in learning more about the school can drop by throughout the day on Mondays for information and a tour. Please help us spread the word. TRS WELCOMES NEW TEACHER - The Rock School is pleased to announce the return of former TRS teacher Katy Wilbekin. Katy taught fifth grade from 2005-2007 and returns to that same position on Monday, replacing Hannah McKenzie who will be out on maternity leave for the remainder of the school year.
